I love programmes about journeys where you get the A to B and a sense of achievement. You 3 are great television and cheered me up on those half hours, well done and I hope you do something similar soon!

Have had a busy week at work. I have never found the time to contact the Haraklion Museum, but would love to do so. Interesting piece of research. If you ever had the time to do it on my behalf I should be delighted!
Best wishes Theresa

Comment on Tonight on BBC2: Crossing the Rhone & Over the Alps by sprocketman

When I watched the Alps episode last night I thought of the Butch Csssidy film and the quote "Who the hell are these guys?". Hannibal and his men were just a colossus band to have walked through the alps - under attack. That was after walking through Spain and Gaul! Amazing.

And thanks Julian for alerting us to The Times bicycling campaign - what a great idea. I've just signed up in support and sent a tweet. We're all outside the UK at the moment but Ben and Sam have certainly had their share of close shaves commuting by bicycle in London. all the best. One of the notes above said it would be on BBC4 but is now scheduled for BBC2 at 11-20 pm.

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by David

Very very disappointing BBC

Comment on Wood Brothers: The Early Years by Danny

...not a ramble at all Theresa! Thanks for sharing your surprising connections to Hannibal's campaign. It would be great to trace the thread of your Crettol family in Crete and see what turned up in the distant past...it sounds like you might have already done that? If anyone else has Hannibal family links or legends it would be great to hear them too? Thanks again Theresa.

Comment on Wood Brothers: The Early Years by Theresa Moore

I have been watching on BBC 2 your epic journey and have just watched a small clip of 'Through the Alps' - but waiting for BBC2 to televise the full episode.
I note you say that Hannibal could have possibly chosen three routes over the Alps. I wondered if you were aware of a legend in the Valais area of Switzerland. My Grandfather's name and my maiden name was Crettol. The family come from a small Alpine village called Mollens, near Crans Montana- just a few metres up from the Rhone valley town Sierre.
As a child I was told our name derived from Crete and had come to Switzerland with Hannibal. I never gave it much thought until I had a beach holiday in Crete and was told that in the Museum in Heraklion, there are remains of ancient Elephants.
The Crettol family I believe is regarded as one of the oldest families in Switzerland.
Anyway, I have rambled on long enough and just wanted to share this information with you.

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by Bob Duncan

I'm just relieved I am not losing my mind. I was sure I had watched episode 2 on iPlayer after a friend's recommendation and had even thought I'd really enjoyed it, but after failing to find any mention of it more recent than 2010 on the BBC website I wondered if I had just imagined it all (how disturbing is that?).

Look forward to watching the rest!

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by Hannibal fan

Typical BBC! Mastermind used to be worth watching - but its now an old and tired show that should make way for new ideas like your bike travelogue.

Thanks guys

PS are you supporting the Times newspaper's cycling campaign?

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by chris haskins

phew thought i missed ep 3 looking forward to other episodes

Comment on Behind the Scenes by admin

Thanks Trish - glad to hear you have enjoyed the show so far. And thanks for your thoughts...

Three different Producer/Directors made the series. They made 2 episodes each and their personalities certainly come through in the finished product. So I think you'll notice a different feel in the coming episodes and less 'tongue-in-cheek' shots. But the same balance of history, travel and 'bro-mance'.

And we aren't sure where next to be honest. We'll probably wait till the dust settles on this transmission on BBC2 and see. There are a few ideas here though:

Very pleased it will be on at the end of the month, so will tune in then!

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by admin

Hello everyone. Thanks once again for all your supportive and constructive comments. Unfortunately the BBC will not release episodes on the iPlayer before they are transmitted on television. So I'm sorry to say we are all stuck waiting until the 23rd for Episode 3.

And I also got my figures wrong about Mastermind audience numbers, sorry Mastermind! It gets around 2 million viewers - On Hannibal's Trail was getting around 1.25 million.

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by Ed Mildew

Any news on Iplayer Wood brothers?

Comment on BBC2 TV schedule by Davey L

Any news on the show?
